Pilates Benefit #4: Endurance and Stamina
Pilates helps you build Endurance and Stamina!
Building stamina and endurance is great for our mental state. This brings us back to confidence, as discussed in an earlier post, and being able to endure through the challenges that life throws at us.
In Pilates, we work through repeated movements, and flow through a number of exercises one after the other, building up stamina and endurance, both mentally and physically.
Similarly, in certain forms of Yoga or isometric exercise, poses are held for long periods of time, building up endurance. Slower movements, or holding certain movements, assists in building endurance, strength and flexibility.
Being able to maintain a pose or work through a full flow of exercises is something that comes with practice as your endurance builds up. As a beginner you may find that you’re not able to complete a full series of Pilates exercises just yet. Hang in there! With every session, you’ll be able to add a few more reps, or hold that plank for just a little bit longer. Soon enough, your stamina and endurance will increase and will also benefit other aspects of your life.
