Pilates Benefit #2: Posture
Pilates greatly improves Posture!
Sitting in a slouched position behind a desk for hours on end means that your body starts moulding itself into this same bad posture even when you’re away from your desk.
With modern lifestyles, we’re often slouched behind a desk or steering wheel, slumped in a couch, or straining our necks over smartphones or other mobile devices, which creates bad posture and muscular imbalances.
Pilates assists by strengthening the muscles that “pull” our posture back into place.
So, what is “good posture” exactly? Good, correct posture relates to symmetry and alignment in the body. Our anatomy is designed to work within a certain alignment, and through certain patterns of movement.
In a Pilates session, we work on the deeper muscles that stabilise the body and help to realign posture. You’ll often discover muscles working in areas where you didn’t even know you had muscles!
“Great posture never goes out of style”
