Hi members!

Firstly, a big WELCOME to our new members!

If you’re new and wondering where to begin, here’s a quick look at what you’ll find here:

  • 40 – 50min Pilates videos from the archives

Full Pilates sessions on the mat, with options to use equipment. No worries if you don’t have equipment, alternative options are always provided.

  • 10-15min “Back to Groove” sessions

Part of a 7-day series, 7 sessions designed to help you ease back into movement without it feeling overwhelming. Take your time to get through this series – non-consecutive days are perfectly fine!

So whether you’re in the mood for a full-length Pilates class or simply a 15min stretch and move, there’s something for everyone.. Let’s go!

Where I’m at

I’ve just returned from a short vacation and, as you may remember, I also had some unplanned travels in January. These breaks away from my usual routine have left me feeling a little out of sorts, and it’s as though the year is constantly still starting up for me.

That’s the thing about routine and consistency – it gets you into a flow where you can continuously build on something. But without it, we keep restarting at square one.

On Rebuilding Lost Skills
Bodies are strange.. Lately I’ve been thinking about how annoying it is that if you stop practicing something, your body can basically go, “Sorry, I can’t quite do that anymore.”

How rude, honestly! 😂

For me, forward fold is an example. A while ago I was practicing this often, and it was going so well! But it also took time, patience, and a fair amount of consistency for me to make progress. So when I stopped giving it attention, it disappeared.

My goodness, look at that! And here I was, thinking it would politely wait around and still be perfectly possible again months later… This is motivation enough! Time to give some attention to this again.

Then there’s the complete opposite experience: the things our bodies do more naturally, often for reasons that are just down to our own individual body’s build and structure.

For me, that’s middle splits and pancake/straddle. My hips are very open, so that shape comes more easily to me.

But – and this is important – that doesn’t mean it’s all straightforward. Those same open hips are also a bit unstable, so it’s not simply a case of “this is my good stretch” and that’s the end of the story.

I think this is one of the most interesting and frustrating things about movement: some skills are hard-earned and disappear quickly when we neglect them, while others come more naturally but still need care, strength, and support.

Basically, bodies are not always logical, progress is not always linear, and sometimes the thing you worked hardest for is the first thing to vanish when you take a break.

Very character-building..
🙄 Eye roll, or 🥁drum roll..?

So, if you’ve been feeling frustrated..
If there’s something in your body that used to feel easier and now doesn’t, I just want to say: that’s normal. Incredibly annoying, yes. 😅 But normal.

It doesn’t mean you’ve failed, and it doesn’t mean you’re back at square one. It just means movement is a relationship, not a one-time achievement. We lose things, we rebuild them, we understand them differently the second time around.

And often, we come back with more wisdom about our bodies and our abilities.

Coming Soon: 7-day Hip Series
On that note, I’m also excited to announce that a 7-day hip series is coming soon.

I’ll share more details very soon, but if your hips would enjoy some extra attention -whether that means mobility, strength, stability, or just getting some more movement – it’s on its way.

Thanks for being here, for moving with me, and for being part of this space. I’m really enjoying this journey, and I’m glad you’re here to share this with!
